CrocoParc Agadir
The Project
A dynamic of preservation
In designing CROCOPARC, the founders were motivated by a desire to preserve as many species of animals sheltered at CROCOPARC as the species of plants, in order that both may harmoniously populate the various gardens of the park.
For the crocodile, it is a kind of “back home”. Indeed, until the early twentieth century, it was still present in Morocco in the gueltas of Oued Draa; but with the stark demographic pressure around water points – along with the fear he inspired in the population, along with its excessive hunting – this unfortunately, led to its demise in the kingdom.
The resident species at CROCOPARC is the Nile crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus).
The Place
An Extraordinary Place
CROCOPARC is located within the community of Drarga, on the outskirts of Agadir, along National Highway 8 (the Marrakech-Agadir motorway) less than three hours travel from Marrakech.
Within the heart of the park lie argan trees; the tree which is emblematic of the region, the backdrop of which is completely within a natural, breathtaking landscape; opening onto the Atlas mountains in the background.
The first crocodile park in Morocco, CROCOPARC has become a tourist magnet which is a totally different experience from the usual tourist activities that are offered in the Souss Massa Draâ region; which tend to be oriented towards aquatic enjoyment.
